No one becomes a legitimate star after working in adult movies. But playing a porn actress - or, at least, a retired one - may spell stardom for 21-year-old Elisha Cuthbert.

In "The Girl Next Door," a comedy opening Friday, Cuthbert is the luscious Danielle, whose porn-star past complicates her burgeoning romance with neighbor Matthew (Emile Hirsch), an ambitious but unworldly high-school senior.

Cuthbert is already the starlet of the hour.

She is best known for playing the constantly imperiled Kim Bauer on the hit TV series "24." But readers of Maxim (and casual newsstand browsers) recognize her for her cleavage-revealing photo on the magazine's March cover.
